Facial Exfoliation

I have had a few girls tell me that they exfoliate everyday and it made me want to share some facts with you all.

First of all, I love exfoliating my skin because the after effects are smooth, vibrant, youthful looking skin. However, my skin is quite sensitive so I stick to exfoliating once a week.
When you exfoliate your skin, essentially what you are doing is getting rid of all those horrible dead skin cells which can cause skin to look dull and sallow. This, instantly, will make your skin look brighter and smoother.
However, when you then continue to exfoliate (if you exfoliate everyday), it can start to have the reverse effect. So the dead skin cells have gone and now you are beginning to exfoliate healthy skin cells. Imagine the effect when you do this every day. It can cause redness and inflammation, as you are aggravating your skin. As a result, you may find your skin feels drier than normal due to moisture being stripped from the skin.
If you have oily skin, then you can afford to exfoliate more often. Bear in mind, if you over exfoliate, your skin will dry out hence your skin thinking it needs to produce more oil.
The general consensus is that dry/sensitive skin should be exfoliated 1-2 times a week and oily skin 3-4 times a week.
After you exfoliate, have a look at your skin, how does it feel? Does it feel sore, does it look overly dry or red? They are sure fire signs you need to cut back on exfoliating.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Waterproof Creme Colour – Jet Black

I have to say I’m on the fence with this one. I’ll explain why – the colour pay off is good. It’s a bold black that won’t budge. It doesn’t smudge easily and it’s waterproof.

Sounds perfect, right? There is one minor flaw – it dries extremely fast. That’s all well and good because we don’t want wet liner but it means you have to work quickly with the product. I found I had to keep applying product to my brush otherwise it would drag my skin. The colour isn’t as bold as the Inglot liner, however the colour is buildable. I had to go over it again and it was fine.

Irrespective of this tiny problem, I like it. It’s just one of those products that takes a bit of getting used to. Would I buy it again? I’m not so sure.

One complaint I’ve read is that it’s a nightmare to take off. I disagree. If you use a waterproof eye makeup remover, there should be no problems. The Inglot liner is far more difficult to remove. Hence why I decided to look for another eye liner (not that it takes much for me to buy another makeup product 🙊)

GOSH Cosmetics – Forever Eyeshadow – Matte

I saw these eyeshadow sticks in Karisma and wanted to share them with you. The colours are pigmented – so soft and creamy. They’re meant to be long lasting, crease-free and waterproof. I really love the colours.

N • E • W – NARS Laguna Liquid Bronzer

I would assume this is similar to applying fake tan but you can wash it off at the end of the day. This is something I would love – quick and easy.

It only comes in one colour – brown with a golden shimmer.

Morphe – 35W Eyeshadow Palette

Whenever I buy a cheap palette, I am always sceptical of the quality. However, any doubt in my mind has definitely long gone. I wanted to have a good play around with all the colours before I shared my opinion with you all.
For the price (I bought mine in the UK and it was cheap – around £15) it’s amazing quality and great value for money. Before I go on about how great it is, there are a few colours that are chalky but nothing a good primer can’t sort out!

This palette has a good range of colours and makes an ideal first palette if you’re a newbie to makeup. There are several Morphe palettes that offer different shades but this one appealed to me. I love warmer colours – they suit me better and I tend to use them a lot more.

The palette has a mix of matte and shimmery shades so there is something for everyone. The colours are pigmented. They blend really well. I know with a lot of cheaper palettes, you start blending and the colour just disappears! Well – not with this palette.

A must-have for all makeup lovers!
